Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere over the Rainbow
YEAH I KNOW. The most cliche choice I could make, but somewhat obligatory, it's a classic. Used in uncountable amount of movies, I don't think that there is a person who doesn't know this song. Extremely positive and relatively easy to play and sing, one of the first songs to learn when you pick up ukulele.
Eddie Vedder - Longing to Belong
Powerful voice of Pearl Jam, personally an enthusiast of ukes. He gave vent to his passion at last year's album named simply 'Ukulele Songs'. Beautiful ballad, reminds a little of his earlier work from the 'Into the wild' album.
Matt Kresling - Ashes
Less known than the previous ones, but still awesome. Brilliantly composed use of uke and accordion. Plus the lyrics are hilarious.
That's all for now. Next time: best ukulele covers.

LOL loved the lyrics to the last one, they were surely quite fun. The other two were good too, but liked the last the best

ReplyDeleteDo you know the project 'The Beatles Complete On Ukulele'? Sounds very good :)
Complete? Like with 'Revolution 9', 'Helter Skelter' and 'A day in life' complete? :D
DeleteGonna check it out, thanks!
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole- I swear this guy just learnt to play the Uke to be ironic haha
ReplyDeleteGreat covers!

ukelele = good time music. It just seems hard to be in a bad mood while listening to a uke
ReplyDeleteThe Eddie Vedder one is brilliant...
ReplyDeleteAlthough I listened to all three of the videos I still liked the first one, can't beat the classics man. The distinct sound of the ukulele is what drew me close to it in the first place, hope that this'll be a good incentive to keep going.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere over the rainbow just makes me smile. I always consider myself to be a jaded person that song is just pure happiness.
ReplyDeleteI heard the first but not the others, thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI didn't knew thee was a song about the rapture. It's great!
ReplyDeleteEddie Vedder is boss.
ReplyDeleteAhh and what a lovely sound when used correctly. All these examples are great. I can't wait for the covers!
